(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Marc Anthony had branded allegations that he had an affair "laughable".

The singer opened up about his split from wife Jennifer Lopez on TV show Nightline. The interview was aired in the US last night and Marc is adamant that no one else was involved in their decision to divorce.

It was rumoured he got too close to his HawthoRNe co-star Jada Pinkett Smith, but Marc insists they are just good friends.

"When something like that happens, it's laughable. We were laughing, like Wow'. We've been friends for years. Jada, Jennifer, me, him, for years

"I've heard it all," Marc said of the affair rumours. "People are trying to peg it on things because it was so shocking. It was like, it must have been something... It wasn't something sensationalistic."

The Puerto Rican star is saddened by the speculation. He hopes Jada and her husband Will Smith haven't been too hurt by the falsehoods.

"What bothers me is the effect it has on family, to Will and Jada's, and their children, and their relatives, and their loved ones," he added.

Marc has vowed to remain on good terms with Jennifer and insists the split was amicable. The pair were married for seven years and have three-year-old twins Max and Emme together.

"These things happen. It was a decision that we made jointly. This is not a funeral," he explained. "This is not a burial. This is just two people who came together and just realised it wasn't sustainable the way it was, and that's that." (C) Cover Media
