15th September 2010

(Cover) - EN Fashion - Marc Jacobs has debuted his fun and flirty new collection at New York Fashion Week.

The designer showed his Spring/Summer 11 range for his Marc by Marc Jacobs label at the New York State Armoury. The show opened with a model wearing a long striped dress, paired with neutral heels and frizzy, backcombed hair.

Colourful bowler hats, bright yellow wedge heels, long skirts and stripes all featured heavily. Yellow, red, beige and grey were all key shades, coming in various tones.

Dresses had a 1940s feel, with bows and other retro details and most looks were accessorised with chunky bracelets and colourful red bags. For men, a pair of copper-coloured trousers was paired with a sleeveless grey raincoat and shirt. Grey striped suits also featured, worn with red and green sneakers.

Vera Wang showed her new collection yesterday morning. The range was inspired by Quentin Tarantinos Kill Bill films, and featured several Chinese details including obi belts.

Vera also sent a range of harem pants down the runway, while her evening looks were characterised by intricate detailing in red satins.

Herve Leger by Max Azria presented its sexy new range, described in the show notes as a modern-day Marie Antoinette style. The labels staple bandage dresses were updated in new colours including pastels, metallics, peaches, neutrals and blush. Corset dresses, layered ruffles, sheer cap-sleeves, leather, lace and crochet details also featured.

Michael Kors, Tory Burch and Anna Sui will show their new collections at New York Fashion Week later today. (C) Cover Media
