(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Mariska Hargitay and family are "shocked" at their "lucky" adopted son.

The American actress and her husband of seven years Peter Hermann adopted a second child this week.

Mariska welcomed son Andrew Nicolas Hargitay Hermann into their family just days after she and her husband processed the adoption paperwork.

Mariska and Peter did not expect their family to expand so rapidly.

"It was all very quick. It was a week that changed our lives," Mariska told People magazine. "We're still in shock. What did we do to get so lucky?"

Andrew came into their lives so fast that Mariska was not prepared for him. Her nursery was pretty barren.

"It was so hilarious. My godson was born eight months ago and I gave all of [5-year-old son] Augusts things to them," she laughed.

"We came home with our baby and almost nothing. Friends are coming over with onesies."

Mariska and Peter have biological son August together. She and Peter adopted another daughter named Amaya Josephine six months ago.
