(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Matt Damon wants people to buy water bottles as gifts this Christmas.

The American actor has featured in an advert for the charity Water.org in which he tries to persuade people to buy a limited edition water bottle, a Snuggie blanket and a light-up tie.

The actor admits the Christmas present ideas were a bit dubious but explained 100% of proceeds go towards helping the charity, which aims to provide safe drinking water and sanitation to those who need it in developing countries around the world.

Matt joked that of all the strange present ideas he had, the water bottles were the best.

"Yeah, we're trying to get people to at least get the water bottles," Damon explained to American website Extra. "We thought that's definitely better than the Snuggie or the nacho plate that plays the mariachi music."

The 40-year-old stars wife Luciana Bozn Barroso has just given birth to their fourth child, named Stella.

However, Matt revealed his Christmas spirit would not be extending to the youngest member of the family this Christmas.

"Nah, I'm not getting her anything. She doesn't know the difference, Matt said, when asked what presents he will be getting Stella. I'll make it up on her second birthday." (C) Cover Media
