(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Leighton Meester is looking forward to "doing something different."

The actress' show Gossip Girl will end its sixth and final season later this year.

Although Leighton is comfortable with the show's conclusion, the star admits that it's still somewhat of a challenge to move on.

"It's bittersweet," Leighton told E! Online. "That the perfect word for it."

Leighton, who is also a singer, is excited to see what type of professional opportunities will manifest for her in the future.

"But at the same time, it's great to move on and do something different," she explained. "Playing the same character for six years is great, but it's exciting to do other things and also just sleeping and spending time with my family. I want to release an album by the end of the year. I probably have 20 songs ready but will release an album with 10 or 11." (C) Cover Media
