Karan Johar produced mega-starrer film Kalank featuring Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit shoot begins in Mumbai. The shoot went on floors on Wednesday and the actors shared the excitement via social media.

Dharma Productions trending love Jodi of Varun and Alia is back again to kick things for KJo after delivering hits like 'Student of The Year', 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' and 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania'. Interestingly, the rumoured couple from the 90's Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit are all set to unite after 25 long years.

Helmed by '2 States' director Abhishek Varman, 'Kalank' is a period drama set in the 1940s. Varun has also revealed that 'Kalank' is a film that has been in the making for almost 15 years! Varun shared KJo and Sajid Nadiadwala's pic holding Kalank's clapper in hand. 

The actor tweeted, "#KALANK is a film Karan wanted to direct 15 years ago. Now 15 years later that dream will be realised. Feel honoured that I can be a part of this huge ensemble and Karan's dream film directed by #Abhishek. happy to do my 3rd film with #SajidNadiadwala and thankful for the support." 

Sharing the first pic from the sets of Kalank as Sajid Nadiadwala holds clapper and pose along with Karan Johar, Varun tweeted on Wednesday, "It begins #KALANK."

Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur were also present on sets. Madhuri Dixit Nene shared her excitement for the film with a tweet that read ''Just finished my shoot with @AnilKapoor and #indrakumar on the sets of #TotalDhamaal and was phenomenal as usual. Now arrived at the sets of #Kalank with @karanjohar for the look test. The sets are breathtaking. Can't wait for you to see both films.''
