The former Spice Girl stood in as a replacement judge on the music mogul's hit TV show the X Factor UK earlier this year during the audition stages.

Mel's former stylist Blair Late says Simon is a fan of the star's feisty nature, which is why she'd be a perfect addition to the judging panel.

"Let's just say I would not be surprised at all if Simon asked her to do the UK X Factor next year," she told UK magazine Heat.

"She is certainly a favourite of Simon. He can't boss her about, she bosses him. She is Scary Spice after all. Perhaps, next year, it will be the UK and the next year the USA."

Nicole Scherzinger became a permanent fixture on the judging panel after songstress Kelly Rowland bowed out after one season on the successful reality TV show.

Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow and Tulisa Contostavlos are also judges and mentors on the X Factor UK. (C) Cover Media
