30th September 2014

Alia Bhatt has made it big in Bollywood in just a span of 2 years. The star kid is apparently shortlisted to play the main lead in the screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's yet to release book, ‘Half Girlfriend’.

The author, who'll debut as a producer with the screen adaptation of this novel, has joined hands with Mohit Suri and Ekta KapoorApart from Alia, Huma Qureshi and Kriti Sanon were also competing for the role.

Chetan and Alia's earlier venture, '2 States' had collected Rs. 100 crore at the box office.

A source reveals, "It's a role tailor-made for Alia and both Mohit and Chetan believe that Alia, who had earlier played Ananya Swaminathan in '2 States' based on another Chetan bestseller, will do complete justice to Riya. Alia herself is keen to work with Mohit, who is her cousin."

When contacted Mohit, he said, "Alia is an amazing actress. I'm currently developing the script and haven't reached the casting stage. All I can say at the moment is that she'd be great for the part."

The book is being launched on October 1 in Mumbai and Delhi.
