Mel Gibson is not the father of an unborn baby despite numerous reports to the contrary.

Laura Bellizzi, 35, has hit back at claims that she is carrying the actor's ninth child.

The business woman has released a statement to TMZ telling them that the 55-year-old "is not the father of my child."

Laura maintains that any "alleged friends" telling media outlets that she has been privately saying Mel is her baby's father are "being 100% dishonest in a misguided effort to seek five seconds of notoriety and fame."

Laura's representative says that her client has been "greatly dismayed" by reports about her four-month pregnancy.

"Ms Bellizzi considers the details of her pregnancy to be private, and does not intend to respond to the lies and speculation fueling the reckless reports, beyond that which her attorney has already accurately disseminated," the publicist wrote in a statement.

Mel, 55, has seven children with his estranged wife, Robyn Moore, and a two-year-old daughter with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

Laura and Mel reportedly dated briefly over the summer which led to the speculation he was her child's father.
