Nikki Reed is going in to the studio to "record a rap song".

The actress has been keeping herself busy now that filming has finished on the final Twilight movie.

Nikki and her new husband, American Idol star Paul McDonald, are planning to start work on the star's singing debut soon.

"Paul and I are going back into the studio next week to record this really funny rap song that we have together," she told E!

But, the 23-year-old isn't that confident in her abilities yet. The brunette beauty likes to take a back seat on the tracks.

"I do harmony, rap harmony," she explained. "We're discovering it as we speak. I'm not the lead rapper. I layer the rapping."

Nikki doesn't take herself too seriously. She is hoping that a video of the rap will go viral after appearing on Will Ferrell's comedy video website FunnyorDie.

"I want to make the music video of that rap song," she added. "We want to put it somewhere like FunnyorDie or something."

The pair joked that the song may even help Paul get his first job in acting.

However, he doesn't want a demanding role for his first venture into the dramatic arts.

"He keeps asking me if he can play that dead guy in CSI," she laughed. "So we'll see. Maybe that'll happen."
