Michael Bubl hopes that his wife Luisana Lopilato will be pregnant by "next Christmas".

The couple were married in March this year in Luisana's home country of Argentina.

The Canadian singer is already eager to start trying to have a family.

"We hope to be pregnant by next Christmas," he told British newspaper The Sun. "And it makes me really excited to think about all the practising we can do."

Michael admits that he was deeply happy before he met the actress/model backstage at one of his shows in 2008.

The 36-year-old claims he was trying too hard to impress his fans and those around him.

He credits Luisana with helping him to find out who he really is.

"Lu has changed me," he smiled. "I'm really content and lucky. She's amazing.

"Before, I wasn't present. I didn't love myself enough and I allowed my insecurities to get the better of me. And being present has turned me into a better family guy.

"For years I tried too hard. I wanted to be some hip guy, or cool. But as soon as I realised that Michael Bubl is a f**king nerd then I became cool. Well, cool at being a dork!" he laughed. "But that means I can be the best husband I can."

Michael is currently promoting his new festive album, Christmas.
