A complete mass masala entertainer
The most awaited sequel of the year 'Dabangg 2' finally hits the screens. Chulbul Pandey aka Robinhood Pandey is back, this time, doing bigger things, skirmishing bigger goons in a big city, Kanpur. What’s different is that this time producer Arbaaz Khan takes charge and replaces Abhinav Kashyap as the director of the film. Kashyap sure had made the task easy for Khan as he had to follow the same route, although matching up to the gigantic expectations the prequel created sure is a humungous task. However, Arbaaz sticks to the formula of making a typical Bollywood Masala entertainer keeping Salman in focus.
Apart from Pandeyji, other immortal characters too make a comeback. Sonakshi Sinha as Rajjo stole the show with just one dialogue in the prequel, 'Thappad Se Darr Nahi Lagta', and the actress is remarkable with her clean delivery and desi look. Her chemistry with Salman is adorable. Vinod Khanna and Arbaaz Khan’s relationship with Salman too takes a different angle and their bonding on screen is a pleasant watch.
Arbaaz is a perfect fit for the role and does a decent job. Khanna too impresses. Prakash Raj plays the bad guy this time, but this talented actor could have been given a better screen space. Deepak Dobriyal and Nikitan Dheer and Raj’s brothers too perform par expectations, with Deepak certainly leaving you wanting more of him. However, amidst all this you definitely miss Sonu Sood as 'Chhedi Singh' and respect him more for his contribution to the prequel. The rest of the supporting cast including Chulbul Pandey’s aids and Manoj Pahwa add the required humour.
Sajid-Wajid’s music is soothing for the ears with 'Saanso se bandhi hai Dor' and 'Pandeyji bajaaye Seeti' standing out. Kareena Kapoor’s 'Fevicol Se' is raunchy and sticks to your lips. Munni makes a comeback too and does make an impact. Cinematography and screenplay are decent with no flaws.
While 'Dabangg' had a lot of drama going around with Chulbul being Prajapati Pandey’s step son, and Rajjo’s father giving his life for his daughter’s happiness and more, ‘Dabangg 2’ has very little to flaunt in terms of the story.
However, Salman's everlasting charm, unforgettable mannerisms make it a must watch. This one is sure going to get the cash registers ringing this Christmas and New Year. A complete package, a complete mass masala entertainer; watch ‘Dabangg 2’ and have a great weekend.
