Nagarjuna tries to smoke peace pipe

4th October 2011

Nagarjuna, who may face up to two years of imprisonment if the charges against him abusing journalist Y Sunita Chowdary, are proved, is reportedly trying to make peace with the journalist.

Common friends in the industry, who are known to Nagarjuna and the journalist, are trying to bridge the gap. It is hoped that the issue would be solved at the earliest, sources tell us.

Y Sunita Chowdary had filed a case against the actor after the incident last week with the Jubilee Hills police station in Hyderabad. The police have registered the case under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) and Section 509 (abuse, gesture or act to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The incident took place at the Annapurna Studios on Thursday and sources told the media that the actor is making truce with the journalist, who is also a member of the Film Censor Board.

According to the police, Sunita and the actor had an argument over a previous matter and when she met him during a film shoot, Nagarjuna allegedly abused her.
