Nanna goes places

7th October 2011

Nanna's Tamil version Deiva Thirumagal, a Vikram starrer, is a film that spoke about mental disability. It will be screened at The Ability Fest 2011, a bi-annual international disability film festival to be held in Chennai.

The event will showcase films on disability from more than 15 countries. All the movies will be subtitled for the benefit of the hearing impaired. Deiva Thirumagal will be screened with audio description - an additional audio track to describe scenes.

The festival is organised by Ability Foundation, a Chennai-based NGO which has been conducting the festival since 2005. Ability Foundation works with issues of social inclusion and awareness about cross disabilities.

Says Janaki Pillai, director, operations, Ability Foundation, "The purpose of the film festival is to stress on the need for universal access and the importance of an inclusive society. We want to make sure that good cinema reaches everyone, regardless of disabilities."
