Nawaz to shoot in 108 locations for Balasaheb Thackeray biopic

22nd March 2018

It is the politician turned filmmaker, the current Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut initiating the biopic of one of the most popular politicians, Balasaheb Thackeray.

Starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the film would narrate his journey from a cartoonist to an established politician, something the current generation is unaware of.

Director said, "It is a full-fledged commercial film which will be shot at approximately 108 locations, including the Lucknow Court that Balasaheb Thackeray visited during the Babri Masjid demolition hearing." He further stated that many scenes will be shot inside and around Matoshree as well, the late Shiv Sena leader's Mumbai residence.

Helmed by Abhijit Panse, this bilingual Hindi-Marathi film will also be dubbed in English and will be released on Balasaheb Thackeray's 93rd birth anniversary on January 23, 2019.

Moreover, Sanjay Raut is impressed by Nawazuddin Siddiqui's preparation and dedication to get under the skin of the character and finds him perfect to essay Balasaheb on-screen. He is currently working along with the Marathi dialect coach Ashish Pathode to master the accent with a dense throaty voice.
