(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ne-Yo plans to put the creativity back into R&B with his new album.

The American singer believes the music genre is missing spark at the moment, and he is intent on livening it up again.

The 31-year-olds new LP is called Libra Scale, and it marks a distinct departure from his last three records.

This is my fourth studio album, and I wanted to do something different, he told Hip Hop Weekly magazine. I couldnt just put together another 12 records and throw them out there. I wanted to do something a little more creative. Creativity is lacking a lot in R&B. In pop music, they do what they do, but with R&B, if it aint about cars or a girl, or jewellery or money... its like, Cmon! There is only so many ways you can sing about the same thing over and over again.

The musician became a father to a baby girl called Madilyn Grace Smith in November. Parenthood inspired his new music, with the album featuring a string of linked tales that are emotionally charged and probe questions about life, love and finance.

Its a story that asks the question, if you had to choose between love versus money, power and fame, which way would the scales tip? Ne-Yo said. [The promos are] all tied together to tell this story. (C) Cover Media
