(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Nick Lachey adopted the full on begging position when he proposed to Vanessa Minnillo.

The couple met in 2006 when Vanessa was shooting the promo for Nicks single Whats Left of Me. He popped the question last year, and the pair couldnt be happier. They havent started planning their wedding yet as both are just happy to be engaged especially as the proposal didnt go quite to plan.

I told my friends, It was so romantic, he got down on both knees. And he said, Well one was giving way, Vanessa, 30, laughed.

Nick added: Yeah, one wasnt enough so I had to go into the full begging position. And plead for her hand.

The couple arent keen on revealing the intimate details of Nicks proposal, although they are happy to discuss one comical incident which occurred. Just as 37-year-old Nick was plucking up the courage to ask Vanessa, a group of male tourists walked past. They were loud and drinking from beer cans, and completely ruined the moment.

The one funny part we can share is that when he got down on both knees, and then of course Im convulsing and crying, hysterical, this group of tourists walked by. So literally, before he said a word, hes like, Hmmm, and puts his head in my lap. So they just see me crying with my boyfriends had in my lap, on both knees. You would have thought we were arguing or Id just lost a puppy, Vanessa laughed.

Nick waited for the men to disperse before declaring his love for Vanessa, explaining he wanted to ensure the moment was just about them.

Overall he is happy with the way the proposal went, even if it wasnt totally as hed planned. I did my best romantic effort. You gotta take it in stages.
