Nicki Minaj recorded last minute duet

17th February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Nicki Minaj asked Natasha Bedingfield to collaborate on a song for her album just a week before it was set for release.

The singer debuted her record Pink Friday last year, which features a duet with Natasha called Last Chance. Natasha loved working with the 26-year-old, but explained the collaboration almost didnt happen. She had no idea Nicki even knew who she was until she got a hasty phone call asking if she was free to work with her.

Nicki Minaj phoned Natasha Bedingfield a week before her album Pink Friday was about to drop, to say they should duet on Minaj's Last Chance, reports New York Post. Bedingfield was so excited to hear from Minaj, but worried she wouldn't be able to record the song in time because she was on tour.

Natasha was desperate to work on the song as she fell in love with it as soon as she heard it. Luckily, a gap in her schedule meant she could fit the collaboration in.

The British singer managed to squeeze some time from her agenda while in Detroit, and arranged to record the track in an unusual place.

I heard the song she'd written and it gave me goosebumps. I was like, 'I've got to be on that.' I was in Detroit, doing some promotion, so I went into Eminem's studio and it was amazing, really catching off Eminem's vibe. He wasn't there, but his studio is great, she previously explained.
