The beautiful Australian actress, Nicole Mary Kidman turns 45 today. The actress, singer, film producer and a humanitarian, is very well known for her roles in 'Moulin Rouge', 'The Hours' and 'Rabit Hole'.

Nicole was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Australian parents. But they went to the U.S. to complete their studies, hence she has both an Austrailian and American citizenship. Kidman was very interested in acting when she was in school. As she grew older, she decided to take up drama, mime and performing in her teens.

She started her acting career in the year 1983, starring in various Australian films and television production until she got a break in the 1989 thriller, 'Dead Calm'.

After that she came to worldwide recognition for her performances in 'Days of Thunder', 'Far and Away', 'Batman Returns' and many more.

'Moulin Rouge' was the movie that earned her a second Golden Globe Award and first Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Her performance as Virginia Woolf in the drama film 'The Hour', received critical acclaim and earned Kidman the Academy Award for Best Actress.

Kidman is a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF and UNIFEM. Her work has earned her a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, three Golden Globe Awards, one BAFTA and an Academy Award.

The pretty actress has definitely come a long way with loads of respect and fame.
