(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jack Osbourne has compared his father Ozzy Osbourne's rise to fame to hit boxing movie Rocky.
The 25-year-old reality TV star has produced a new documentary about his dad. God Bless Ozzy Osbourne follows the life of the rock star from his humble beginnings to his notorious character in the music industry.
Jack produced the show as a way of highlighting Ozzy's strength of character. The star, who says Ozzy is mostly misunderstood, has compared his dad's meteoric rise to fame to the hugely popular boxing movies Rocky. The franchise follows a struggling heavyweight boxer who fights to win back his self-respect.
"The inspiration behind the film was that I was fed up of the media's perspective of my dad. Everyone still thinks of him as this kind of f**ked up, bumbling guy and it's just not the case. I wanted to tell the real story from a family perspective. It's kind of a rags to riches story... like Rocky!" he explained in an interview with Kerrang! magazine.
Ozzy's life was captured in reality television program The Osbournes, which featured the domestic life of the heavy metal singer, his wife Sharon, and two of their children Jack and Kelly. Jack says the upcoming documentary, which was filmed over a period of a few years, is a lot edgier than previous attempts to capture the essence of Osbourne family life.
"It's a lot darker. That [the reality show] was a very strange time for the family: dad was completely in the clutches of his addiction, mum was getting sick [from cancer which is now in remission], while me and Kelly were spinning out of control," he explained. "And all the while we're filming this TV show that was highlighting these manic, crazy moments without really portraying the truth. This is Ozzy telling his life the way he wants it to be told."
