Paul McCartney: Music is better than ever

1st November 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sir Paul McCartney thinks that modern music is better than in his heyday with The Beatles.

The 68-year-old singing legend finds it frustrating when people reminisce about the musical past as he thinks they should appreciate the variety and skill that goes into contemporary tracks.

In particular, Paul is a huge fan of Kings of Leon and British rapper Plan B, who is due to perform at the European MTV Music Awards this month.

"I think there's a lot of great music around, I really do, he told British newspaper The Sun. "You get someone going, 'Oh, it's not like it was in my day!' I say, 'No, it's different. It isn't like it was in your day. And actually some of it is better.'

I like Kings of Leon, I think they're really cool. I like Plan B, he's good. He has really got it, you know, a good singer."

Paul is re-releasing his 1973 Wings album Man on the Run. The original album cover featured many of his famous friends.

Paul admitted that given the chance he would put Beyonc Knowles and the American president on the front of the re-launched release.

"Tom from Kasabian. Then next to him Beyonc Knowles, looking a bit sort of scared, He named to be the face of his ideal album cover. Then we'd have to get Bob Dylan. And Neil Young. We could have Ricky Gervais. I need a sportsman Usain Bolt, I'd have to have Barack Obama too. I'd give him a ring.

"Nice little crowd going here." (C) Cover Media
