(Cover) - EN Showbiz - James Blunt says music helps him connect with people.

The 36-year-old star is known for his dreamy, romantic lyrics with his best known song the 2005 ballad Youre Beautiful. James loves performing live and feels closest to his fans when he takes to the stage. He has revealed he is always moved when he hears people singing along to his songs at concerts.

I am having so much fun doing it, I love touring. I am starting another tour in February. I really look forward to it, he said in an interview on TV show Lorraine. It is so amazing; music is the connection you have with people.

Before enjoying success as a singer, James was an officer in the British Army and served time in Kosovo under NATO. The star still has many friends who are in the army and their welfare is always on his mind. He is planning to perform for troops in December and hopes his music can boost their spirits.

I would probably be out in Afghanistan if I wasnt a singer, he explained. My close friends are out there at the moment and it is an amazingly tough time they are going through.

I think its probably toughest for the soldiers families, their wives and girlfriends, they struggle because they dont know whats going on.

I went back to Kosovo to play and I am going to Afghanistan for Christmas, I am going to sing the Taliban into surrender. I hope the soldiers will enjoy it too. (C) Cover Media
