(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Pink has explained why she called her baby daughter Willow saying the tree is her favourite and can "withstand anything".

The Grammy winner and proud new mother opened up to People magazine about the birth of her first child and the sentiment behind the name.

She explained she and her husband Carey Hart turned to their love of nature for inspiration.

"The willow is my favourite tree. I grew up near one. It's the most flexible tree in nature and nothing can break it - no wind, no elements," she explained. "It can bend and withstand anything. I love that sentiment. I want that for her.

"Sage is cleansing and sacred and it sounded great together. It doesn't hurt that her last name is Hart flexible cleansed heart."

Pink revealed she had a challenging birth which ended in her undergoing a Caesarean section unlike the natural birth she had hoped for.

But she says the family of three have now settled into a nice routine and she has cried more than her baby because she's currently "emotional and a little nuts".

But Pink and her husband who separated briefly in 2008 before reconciling said their relationship is now better than ever.

"Carey is a natural. He calms her down like only my boob can," Pink laughed adding he is a hands-on father and is there for every feed and diaper change.

"I knew when I met him he'd be a great father, but watching him fall in love, watching him nurture her, I've never been so in love with him in my life. He keeps thanking me for giving her to him. It's a beautiful time," she shared. (C) Cover Media
