December 4, 2010 (Sampurn Wire):The evergreen hero of the Bengali film industry, Prosenjit Chatterjee is busy enjoying the constant accolades he is receiving from the fans and critics across the country as well as from overseas. It has been almost three decades that the superstar of Bengali cinema is ruling the industry and is still offering constant hits one after another.
He became popular through his commercial movies and now the actor has started experimenting with the off-beat films since the last few years. Recently, he received lots of appreciation for his performance in the movie 'Autograph', in which he plays a superstar. He had another off-beat release yesterday which is based on Sunil Gangopadhyays novel on 'Lalon Fakir'. The film titled 'Maner Manush' has been directed by Goutam Ghose.
In fact, another renowned director Rituparno Ghosh also wanted to make a film on this novel by Sunil Gangopadhyay. However, Sunil got lucky as he called up the writer first and managed to get the rights. When Prosenjit was asked if any other actor in the Bengali film industry could do justice to this Lalon Phakirs role, he said there is just one man in the industry and that is Mithun Chakraborty, who could excel in this role. However, saying this, the 48-year-old actor did not forget to add that in this movie he has aged from 25 to 82 years! So, indirectly, he indicated that Mithunda could not look like a 25-year-old so it was definitely his movie.
Prosenjit deserves to feel proud of his achievement at this point of time because he has come a long way in his acting career and has even got international recognition for his performances. Before enacting the role of 'Lalon Phakir', he did not even watch two other works on the same theme. He wanted to give his own touch to the film and he has excelled in doing that.
The actor can still go a long way and we wish him good luck!
