September 18, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Star Plus is coming with many new shows with different production houses; some of them have also confirmed the news of bringing new shows in coming few months. So now the channel is now making way for the new shows. Unfortunately, that can be only done by axing some older shows that are not doing well on the TRP charts.
Buzz is that Producer Rashmi Sharma's first ever show, 'Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat', is tipped to go off air by next month and the reason being given for pulling off this afternoon show was 'dipping TRP's since the exit of Yudi and Rani.'
A source from the production told TellyCafe.com, "Yes, even we have got the news about the show going off air but nothing has been done announced officially. But that's the way it goes. When you're wrapping up the story line and bringing the tracks to culmination, what else is there to say?"
We also tried contacting Dimple Jhangiani a.k.a Sandhya of the show but she remained unavailable for her comment.
For old times sake, TellyCafe.com contacted the actors who were the original faces of the show, Kapil Nirmal (Yudi) and Anjali Abrol (Rani), who were the two protagonist through whom the show actually commenced. Even they were shocked to hear the news and Kapil said, "I am feeling very sad that Raja... is going off air, especially for the production house and for the unit members. So obviously, it is very hard to digest the news for the people who are attached to the show. When I was out of the show, I thought it might do well for a few more years but unfortunately the channel has to make way for the new comers. All I can say here is a hearty Good Bye to the show."
Anjali herself was shocked to hear the report and she told TellyCafe.com, "I am feeling very bad for the actors, who had just started with the show. I thought as audience liked Yudi and Rani, they might also like our daughter Sandhya. Unfortunately it didn't happen."
'Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat' has already completed over 500 episodes on air and was always known for its quirky tracks and characters. We're sure the fans who have been following the show from day one will be crushed.
