(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Reese Witherspoon was hit by a car and rushed to hospital on Wednesday morning.

The 35-year-old mother-of-two was jogging in Los Angeles around 11am local time when she was struck by a car that was going 20mph.

The Santa Monica Police Department confirmed that Reese was then taken to a local hospital to be checked out.

"Reese Witherspoon was hit by a car on Wednesday and sustained minor injuries," a police spokesperson said.

Law enforcement officials told TMZ that an 84-year-old woman was the driver of the vehicle that collided with the Hollywood star.

The elderly driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian and later released.

The Oscar-winning actress is said to be feeling better and is already back home and resting her representative told Entertainment Tonight.

Reese married Hollywood agent Jim Toth in March and the pair have recently returned from a vacation.

She has two children, Ava, 12 this week, and Deacon, seven, from her first marriage to Ryan Philippe which ended in 2006 after seven years being wed.

Reese recently spoke of her relief at not being a single mother anymore after her nuptials to Jim.

"I was hard on myself when I got divorced," she told Marie Claire. "And until I got remarried, I don't think I realised how stressed I was."
