While stars are pouring in happy tweets for India's 66th Independence Day,
Ram Gopal Varma, as usual, has a different perspective.
He expressed his views on his microblogging page as he posted, "All countries in the world drink to make merry nd celebrate their independance day....only 'Mera Bharat Mahan' does reverse. Other governments facilitate their people on their independance day to enjoy the memory nd our government plays spoil sport to ban drink. Am sure this is supposed to appease Mr .Mahatma Gandhi but hes gone nd the ppl who want to celebrate are here. Can anyone tell me whats the meaning of celebration if one cant have a drink?"
So according to the filmmaker, India and we Indians are not truly independent as he further tweeted, "If to even do a independance day parade they have to go through so much security then where the f**k is independence?"
He asks, "We got independance from British leaders fine but when will we get independance from our much more worse leaders of today?"
We hope our leaders are listening and will answer back.
