(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Robbie Williams is set to sign a new solo record deal just eight months after his highly anticipated reunion with Take That.
The 37-year-old singer rejoined the popular boy band last year to record the album Progress, which was a huge success, selling more than two million copies in the UK alone. It has been reported that the star will complete his touring commitments with Take That later this year before leaving to re-launch his new solo career.
Robbie has been very committed to this Take That project and can't wait to tour with the guys but he never said he wouldn't record his own music again, a source told The News of the World. It's important for him to have his own solo deal because he is one of the most successful British recording artists.
Robbie is thought to have decided to sign a deal with Universal to embark on his solo stint. However, sources insist that the star is fully committed to Take That and will finish his commitments with the band before moving on.
He has every major record company chasing him to sign a new solo contract but there is no need to rush because he is fully committed to Take That until the end of this album campaign.
Robbie rejoined Take That last July. He walked out on the band 15 years ago at the height of their fame in the 90s. The remaining members Jason Barlow, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Howard Donald disbanded shortly afterwards in 1996. The four-piece reunited in 2005 before Robbie re-joined in 2010 in a highly-publicised move that delighted fans. (C) Cover Media
