Robert Pattinson: Marriage is a party

4th November 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Robert Pattinson thinks marriage is just like having "a big birthday party".

The Hollywood star is Edward Cullen in the Twilight movies. The penultimate film, Breaking Dawn Part 1, is due out later this month, and includes the highly-anticipated wedding scene between Edward and Kristen Stewart's character Bella Swan.

It's got Robert thinking about what it would be like to tie the knot in real life, and he isn't sure what all the fuss is about.

"I don't feel like marriage is that big a deal," he said. "It just seems very simple It's like having a big birthday party. It's like, if you wanna throw a really elaborate birthday party for your girlfriend, it's kind of the same deal."

Robert insists the man who married Edward and Bella was a real priest, and has joked that means he and girlfriend Kristen are now wed. He still believes that to be true, and can't understand why his castmates won't back him up.

"[He] was a real priest and Kristen's going around saying it wasn't a real priest," he told Access Hollywood. "It was a real priest. They were wrong, they weren't paying attention, they were just thinking about themselves."

Kristen believes Robert might be repeating his fears around the world to hide the fact the scene didn't go totally to plan. The hunk had a problem remembering what he was supposed to say.

"He couldn't even remember the vows. I think he was kind of nervous," Kristen laughed to E! Online. "He did great, it's just that he kept saying our names as well.

"Basically, that's a funny story to come out of all of all this. Because that wasn't my memory of it. And was he even necessarily a real ordained minister? I'd like to find out."

Robert also dished on another of the major scenes fans are waiting for. Edward and Bella finally sleep together in the movie. The pair's performance was so lifelike it had to be reedited to gain a child-friendly rating, something Robert insists wasn't his fault.

"It was Kristen's fault, really. I was just doing standard stuff," he added to Access Hollywood. "I was just kind of going through the motions breaking the headboard, I just kept breaking the headboard repeatedly. Kristen was just over the top. It was just too much Her wig [was] falling off."

Robert, Kristen and their co-star Taylor Lautner attended a hand and footprint ceremony at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood yesterday. Kristen stunned by choosing to wear chequered sneakers to the event, while Robert's family came to support him.

The actress has also finally cleared up rumours about her injury on the set of Snow White and the Huntsman. There were reports she had seriously hurt herself, but she has assured fans she simply hurt her hand "fighting dwarves". (C) Cover Media
