Robert Pattinson: Theatre would be daunting

7th March 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Robert Pattinson would love to appear in a theatre production but fears his overzealous fans could ruin the experience.

The British hunk is best known for playing vampire Edward Cullen in the hugely successful Twilight movie franchise. Roberts involvement in the films - which also star his real-life girlfriend Kristen Stewart - has attracted him legions of admirers all over the world and he has regularly spoken out about how uncomfortable he feels living in the public spotlight.

The star wishes he could lead a normal life and dreams of landing a low-profile stage role in his hometown of London, but worries it would attract too much unwanted attention.

"I love to do theatre stuff but right now I couldn't imagine it being a good experience," he is quoted as saying. "I just couldn't imagine it being anything other than people constantly taking photos and stuff.

I think it's too much for me to take. I need to have that separation. It's like there's too much energy in an audience."

The 24-year-old Hollywood heartthrob is currently filming Twilight: Breaking Dawn in Vancouver, Canada.

He can next be seen in Water for Elephants, which also stars Reese Witherspoon.

In the movie, Robert plays a student vet who joins the circus after his parents are killed and he recently revealed he loved making the movie because it was such a departure from his Twilight character.

"It definitely felt like I was doing a big movie when I was doing it and it felt totally different from doing something within the Twilight world because now it just seems so familiar, the Twilight stuff, he explained. It's just like going to a normal job, doing that." (C) Cover Media
