Robin Gibb is "fighting hard" to win his battle with liver cancer.

The 62-year-old Bee Gees musician is undergoing chemotherapy treatments after being admitted to hospital with the disease two months ago.

British newspaper The Mirror reports that although Robin is incredibly ill, his fighting spirit keeps loved ones optimistic about his recovery.

"[Robin] is receiving regular chemotherapy and fighting hard," Mick Garbutt, Robin's spokesman and friend, said at the Rock The House project charity launch event on Wednesday. "He is also heading home to be with his family at every possible opportunity as that's where he feels comfortable, but the reality is that he is very unwell."

Robin is receiving an abundance of encouragement from his kin and from fans during this difficult period.

Although he is so ill, Robin's philanthropic efforts remain a top priority for him.

"He's determined to keep supporting good causes which he believes in strongly even as he fights this terrible illness," Mick added. "The support he has been receiving from fans has been fantastic he's a national treasure really. While he can still use his profile to raise awareness for issues close to his heart he will always do so."

Rock The House is a charity that offers amateur acts the opportunity to perform at the British House of Commons. The organisation also supports the intellectual property rights of UK artists.

Robin is reportedly responding well to treatment and has exceeded the doctors' expectations.

The musician is hoping to attend the debut of his classical piece The Titanic Requiem performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in early April.
