(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Russell Brand hosted his own awards ceremony in honour of his fiance Katy Perry last night.

The British comedian proposed to pop star Katy on New Years Eve last year, after they began a whirlwind romance when they met at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in September 2009.

The annual ceremony took place in Los Angeles last night, with Katy in attendance without Russell due to his work commitments. The funnyman was so upset he couldnt be with his fiance he decided to pay tribute to her online.

I'm hosting my own awards (#RBMA's) you win. See you wednesday (in LA) (sic), wrote Russell in a message to Katy on his Twitter page.

The romantic star attached a photograph of himself at home holding a flower with a photograph of Katy stuck to his head.

Katy was clearly touched by the message as she later re-tweeted the post, adding a huge aww beforehand.

The singer had previously made her own dedication to Russell by writing to tell him she would be thinking of him all night.

To the 1 year anniversary of our love @ the #VMA'S @rustyrockets. You're here w/us in spirit :) (sic), wrote Katy on her Twitter page.

Katy looked beautiful at last nights VMAs in a figure-hugging dress covered with black lace and beads. She had decorated her nails with photographs of her fiancs face to show he would still be with her in spirit.

It is thought the pair will marry in a private ceremony later this year. (C) Cover Media
