Russell Crowe struggling to sing'

26th April 2012

Russell Crowe is reportedly losing his voice after spending so much time singing on the set of his new movie.

The hunk is currently shooting scenes for the big screen adaptation of Les Misrables, alongside Hugh Jackman, Amanda Seyfried and Anne Hathaway. Director Tom Hooper wants the musical numbers to be perfect so he is asking the cast to repeatedly deliver their songs. This is starting to affect the stars of the movie and some of them are believed to be battling throat problems.

"Every big musical number is being recorded as live, which is a huge challenge to the cast," a source told British newspaper The Sun. "It has to be note-perfect or Tom won't use it he's a real perfectionist.

"Some of the cast have been belting out songs a number of times in a row and it's taken its toll on their voices."

Crew on the movie are trying to soothe tired vocal cords by handing out medicinal throat sweets and making hot ginger and lemon drinks.

Russell recently revealed the pressure of performing each song live as they film scenes.

"Pretty much every filmed musical ever done is mimed to a pre-recorded soundtrack... in fact i don't know of one not," Russell tweeted. "on this, as has been widely reported, we will sing every take and the orchestration will be recorded afterwards, radical really (sic)."

He has also praised his co-star Hugh for his impressive singing voice.

Both Russell and Hugh perform a series of songs in the big screen adaption of Victor Hugo's classic book.

"working with @realhughjackman is such a pleasure. A gentleman . You wait until you hear him sing this role in Les Mis, honey on the ears (sic)," Russell wrote.

Les Misrables is slated to be released worldwide from December 2012.
