(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ryan Gosling came to the rescue in New York City when he broke up a street fight.

The Notebook actor was crossing an intersection in the East Village when he came across two men fighting over a painting.

Ryan, 30, fearlessly got in between the two sparring men and broke up the physical altercation.

He stepped in and literally pulled the men apart while bystanders looked on in amazement that the actor had come on the scene and was getting involved.

Ryan then escorted the pair away from the busy oncoming traffic.

The incident was caught on a pedestrian's camera and shows other onlookers getting involved.

"That's the guy from the movies!" a bystander shouted out. The actor's The Giving Tree book cover tattoo on his upper left arm was clearly visible showing that it was indeed the Hollywood star.

Ryan, who lives in the Big Apple, is currently filming The Place Beyond the Pines in the city. (C) Cover Media
