Ryan Reynolds: I ate tourists

7th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ryan Reynolds has joked he had to eat so much to beef up for his role in new movie Green Lantern, he munched on unsuspecting tourists.

The actor, who always looks in impeccable shape, had to add extra muscle to his figure to portray a superhero.

Known for his sense of humour, the Hollywood hunk joked about the amount of protein he had to consume to bulk up.

"I was eating momentarily distracted tourists just a couple of shoes sticking out of my mouth," he laughed to Access Hollywood. "That's the thing about these movies, you eat twice as much as you normally would. It's not less, it's more, because naturally my body wants to look like Dick Van Dyke. So you're pounding, you're eating everything you can possibly eat. So much protein, it's just awful, you finish the movie, you go home and shrink."

Ryan also revealed that it was difficult to stick to the strict dietary rules because his co-star Blake Lively was bringing home-baked goods to work.

Despite her slender frame, the Gossip Girl star loves sugary treats and would bring a new creation onto set every day.

"She bakes for everybody on the set, I'm trying to be in shape, I have to play a superhero and she's coming on the set like Mrs. Fields, every day," Ryan said. "Like a platter of everything, sprinkles everywhere and sugar everywhere and oh my God." (C) Cover Media
