Sarah Jessica Parker plans to ensure her children know "reality shows and fame" are unimportant.
The actress has son James Wilkie, nine, and two-year-old twin girls Marion and Tabitha with her husband Matthew Broderick.
She isn't sure whether any of her kids will follow in her footsteps and make movies, but if they do she has strict ground rules.
"James Wilkie talks about wanting to, but he doesn't have any real understanding of what it is yet. Although I'd want to be supportive, he has to go to college first," she explained. "Reality shows, fame and money are absolutely not a by-product of anything that is important to us. I want to make sure he knows that."
Sarah Jessica remains best known for playing Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex and the City TV show and two subsequent movies.
She isn't sure whether she'll revisit the character in the future, although Carrie will always hold a special place in her heart.
"I miss the people. I feel really lucky and blessed that I was able to play a part which people had such strong feelings about," she told Look magazine. "Sex and the City always demanded and deserved an enormous amount of my time and I feel like I can't do that now with my kids."
