(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sarah Jessica Parker doesnt think a Sex and the City prequel would be a good idea.
The 45-year-old made her name playing Carrie Bradshaw in the iconic series about the lives of four friends in New York. Following mixed reviews concerning the Sex and the City 2 film last year, reports have emerged that the movie was set for a change.
According to rumours, Gossip Girls Blake Lively, was set to play Carrie in a reboot that would chart the iconic character through her teenage years. Sarah believes such a move would be a mistake and insult loyal fans.
There are a lot of important and interesting stories that 21-year-olds can tell. I dont begrudge any 21-year-old the opportunity to tell their stories. They prove to us on an everyday basis that theyre interesting, she told The Los Angeles Times, before adding, but I dont think we can pretend to go back. Its creating two histories. Its like, Oh I didnt know that about Carrie Bradshaw, she added.
However, Sarah does believe there is still life left in the franchise. The actress, who is married to fellow actor Matthew Broderick, has revealed she would consider reprising her role sometime in the future.
I would go back. I think theres one more story to tell. I know there is. Id definitely tell that [third] story, and I know Michael [Patrick King, producer] would do it right. But maybe not now. Maybe in five years, you know, she said. (C) Cover Media
