SC allows Sanjay to fly abroad

23rd July 2011

Bollywood's hunky star Sanjay Dutt has a turbulent past, citing his involvement in the 1993 serial bomb blast in Mumbai. A special TADA court in Mumbai had acquitted Sanjay of TADA charges in November 2006 but held him guilty under the Arms Act for possessing a weapon illegally. He was sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment; however he was granted bail in 2007 on his appeal to challenge his conviction in the Mumbai serial blasts.

Since then, he's required to take permission from the court to go abroad for his film assignments, every time. The actor was asked to surrender his passport within a week of returning to the country recently. The court passed the orders only after a petition was filed by the actor seeking the court's permission to go abroad for the shooting of a film till June 2012. However, he has been granted the permission to travel abroad only till January 2012.
