SC gives Dutt 4 more weeks to surrender

Actor Sanjay Dutt who was convicted under the Arms Act for possessing illegal arms was suppose to surrender on or before April 18, 2013. However, the actor had recently requested for more time from the court (Read News).

On March 21, he had sought a six-month extension to allow him to complete shooting of seven films worth Rs. 278 crore. And today, the Supreme Court has accepted his plea, giving him additional four weeks to surrender.

However, the court has stated that the actor will not be entitled to any further extension of time hereafter.

Sanjay has already completed eighteen months in jail. Initially, the jail sentence was six years, but the court has reduced it to five years. So now, the actor has another three and a half years to go.
