(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds have split.

Rumours began to surface earlier this year that the Hollywood pairs relationship was on rocky ground. Scarlett and Ryan got married at a secret Canadian ceremony in September 2008.

But now the separation has been confirmed, with the couple releasing a short statement. "After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we've decided to end our marriage," they said. "We entered our relationship with love and it's with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated."

According to TMZ, the split is amicable and the duo are living apart.

So far it is unclear if either side has filed for divorce and no reason was given by the source for the move.

It was only in June that it was reported Scarlett and Ryan were planning to renew their wedding vows.

They even wished to mark their second wedding anniversary with a special ceremony.

And they vehemently dismissed rumours they were having problems, claiming they tried to see each other every two weeks.

However, talk of unrest in the marriage became more widespread throughout the Autumn. (C) Cover Media
