(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Selena Gomez has denied dating Justin Bieber, claiming he is just one of her best friends.

The 18-year-old American star sparked rumours she was romantically involved with Canadian pop singer Justin when the duo were seen on a breakfast date at the International House of Pancakes in Philadelphia on Thursday.

The brunette beauty has since tried to quash the gossip-spreading by insisting the successful pair have known each other for a long time, and were simply catching up over her favourite type of food.

"It was pancakes! Oh my gosh!" Selena told UsMagazine.com at Z100's Jingle Ball in New York. She added that Justin was "one of my best friends... It was just pancakes!"

The Wizard of Waverley Place star divulged she and Justin have much in common, and so have a lot to talk about when they meet.

She also feels an affinity towards Justin because he thinks in the same way as she does and both famous teen idols like to do normal activities such as meeting up for a coffee.

However, she is adamant her relationship with Justin will remain on platonic terms and that they are just having fun like any other teenagers.

The best part about it is just being able to have people in your life that have the same mentality as you do, she told the American OK! website. I love what I do but I dont let it really control my life. I still like to hangout and do normal things so its nice to have someone who understands your schedule. (C) Cover Media
