Post 'Ishqiya' and 'Dedh Ishqiya', director Abhishek Chaubey is moving on to his next project set in the Northern region of the nation. Buzz is that Abhishek wants to rope in actor Emraan Hashmi for it.

Titled as 'Udta Punjab', it's a thriller movie, which explores the rampant drug use in the state.  While Shahid Kapoor is already on board, Chaubey has offered the parallel lead to Emraan.

A source revealed, "There are two central characters in Chaubey's script. There are traces of dark humour which is why the director believes that Emraan will be perfect for the part. He recently approached the actor for the role, and Emraan has responded positively. Getting Shahid and Emraan together will be a casting coup of sorts. The film also has a strong female character and talks are on with several actresses."

When asked about Emraan's approval, Chaubey said, "It will not be appropriate or fair for me to comment about it at this point."

The film is being produced by Anurag Kashyap and will go on floors in January 2015.
