Sigourney Weaver: I used to look like a boy

24th September 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sigourney Weaver has revealed she was once pursued by a girl who thought she was a handsome man.

Sigourney is considered one of Hollywoods most beautiful and talented women, but the 60-year-old says when she was a young girl starting out in her career as a stage actress she sometimes got mistaken for a member of the opposite sex.

Because she is so tall, the star was often cast in male roles and recalls one incident where she was playing handsome Italian 1920s actor Rudolph Valentino and a female fan chased her down the street.

"In one show, I remember that I played Rudolph Valentino, and I came in on a motorcycle and did a whole Elvis thing, and I was chased by a girl, she laughed in an interview with the website Collider.

Sigourney was mortified by the occurrence, and says she kept trying to convince her female fan that she was in fact a female too.

I kept saying, 'I'm a girl! I'm a girl! Look, I'm a girl!' It was just funny," she explained.

Nowadays Sigourney experiences no such problems, and earlier this week was seen looking glamorous at the premiere of her new comedy You Again, where she and co-star Jamie Lee Curtis turned up in matching blue robes. (C) Cover Media
