Sippy's 'Dum Maro Dum' angers politicians!

1st April 2011

After the MLA's and politicians uproar against director Rohan Sippy's 'Dum Maaro Dum' for showing the ugly underbelly of Goa, Sippy has come to the defense and claimed that he wanted to portray Goa as a character with a key role in the film and that it wouldn't stain Goa's image in any way. "The film doesn't imply that Goa is the worst place to visit or anything negative; it's just a character of my film," he says. 'Dum Maaro Dum' revolves around drugs, mafia, cops and the flesh trade - all in the backdrop of Goa, and this was the only reason for politicians to be concerned as they felt that the film might tarnish Goa's impression. This is not the first time that Rohan has exposed and used the ugly side of a city as his film's backdrop - his earlier film, 'Bluff-master', also brought out how goons and cons in Mumbai, bluff people. Here's hoping that Rohan's reply, have soothed the concerns of the politicos for now!
