Sofa Vergara: I'm no hero

3rd July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sofa Vergara would need to play soccer to become a hero in her native Columbia.

The 38-year-old actress is known for portraying Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in hit US comedy series Modern Family.

Despite her Hollywood success, the beautiful star admits that in her home country people are more impressed by athletic prowess than acting.

"Obviously I am not!" she laughed when OK! magazine called her Columbia's sexiest export.

"I'm very proud of being Columbian, but I'm not a hero there. For Columbians, you need to be a football player.

"But I'm glad that Modern Family is a big thing because everything about Columbia is bad news or exaggerated stuff."

The star also took the time to discuss her previous training as a dentist. The beauty never completed her studies as her showbiz career began to take off.

"I went to dental school but then I started getting opportunities in television and modelling. It is hard when you're 20 and you wake up and think, I go and make money or I go to class,'" she explained. (C) Cover Media
