Sohan Roy talks with Tamil Nadu government

14th December 2011

After receiving an instruction from the Supreme Court, Sohan Roy, director and producer of the controversial movie 'Dam 999' (that was banned in Tamil Nadu) met the State Home Secretary in Chennai and offered his side of the story.

The State government recently announced that the screening of the controversial film was to be banned in Tamil Nadu. The government took the decision since it was felt that the movie would create fear among the people regarding the controversial Mullaiperiyar dam.

Opposing this move, Roy moved the Supreme Court which asked the government to hear his side of the story. Even as a political furore is on, Sohan Roy arrived at the State Secretariat and met Rameshram Mishra the Home Secretary.

Roy along with his battery of advocates reached the Secretariat and spoke to Mishra. He was in a meeting with him for over an hour. He is said to have sought the government's nod to get the ban lifted and explained in detail about the movie's content.
