Sophie Cranston denies wedding involvement

21st April 2011

(Cover) - EN Star Style - Sophie Cranston has denied she is designing Kate Middletons wedding dress.

Reports surfaced earlier this week that the founder of the Liblula label had won the coveted commission to make the bride-to-bes highly anticipated wedding dress when she walks down the aisle in Westminster Abbey in London on April 29.

The 34-year-old British designer who has previously worked for Alexander McQueen and Alice Temperley had kept quiet about the speculation up until now.

Sophies fashion label emailed a statement on Wednesday denying their involvement in the designing of the royal-to-bes wedding gown.

Liblula has a company policy of not commenting on any of the work they do for private clients," read the statement reported on telegraph.co.uk.

"However, due to the unprecedented media attention, they would like to make the following statement: We are not designing Kate Middleton's wedding dress. We, like everyone else, can't wait to find out who is!"

Kate has long been a fan of the Liblula founder and last January wore one of the designers pieces to a wedding, looking stunning in a vintage-inspired black velvet dress coat with a diamante clasp. (C) Cover Media
