Taapsee bags her next with Irrfan Khan

5th September 2014

South Indian Beauty Taapsee Pannu made her Bollywood debut with the remake of 'Chashme Buddoor' opposite Ali Zafar. The film was a commercial hit and Taapsee was appreciated for her looks and her quirky performance.

But despite of offers flooding her doorstep, the actress chose to wait for the right offer for her next film. Her wait ended when filmmaker Neeraj Pandey offered her 'Baby' where she stars opposite Akshay Kumar.

And even before she could wrap up this film, she has signed yet another biggie. She has been signed to romance Irrfan Khan in debutant filmmaker Priya Mishra's debut feature film.

The former creative head of a TV channel, Priya Mishra has titled her debut film as 'Sunderkand'. It is touted to be an unusual love story set in Uttar Pradesh.

The film will be produced by Shailesh Singh, who had funded 'Tanu Weds Manu' as well. The film is about two cops, played by Irrfan and Taapsee.

Its about their journey of love in the crime-infested state. The debutant filmmaker reveals that the film is inspired from real life incidents.

"The story is inspired by my brother and his wife (name with held on request), who are still with the police force. I toyed with the idea for a long time and finally got down to writing it. Taapsee and Irrfan were the ideal choice," she said.

Taapsee too is happy to have bagged the film. "After Baby, it was important that I choose the right film. When Sunderkand came to me, I knew I could not let go of such a beautiful story. I play a cop, which is something I haven't attempted in the past," she said.

Slated to begin in October, the film will be readied for a mid 2015 release.
