The yesteryear beauty, Yahoo-girl, Dilip Kumar's wife Saira Banu, also known as Saira Bano, will be celebrating her 67th birthday today, i.e. on the 23rd August, 2011.

Born to Indian actress Naseem Banu and film producer Mian Ehsan-ul-Haq, she used to act in school and started out very young in Bollywood. She was just 17 when she debuted opposite the late Shammi Kapoor in the hit movie 'Junglee'. She was nominated in the Filmafare Best Actress Section. Initially, the actress was hardly noticed and according to her that was because she wasn't trained in dancing unlike her peers. She soon took up Kathak and Bharatnatyam lessons and her films started to show more of dance. With the movie 'Padosan', she became one of the most successful actresses of her times but this fame soon began to fade.

Meanwhile, at the age of 22, she married Dilip Kumar, who was 45 at that time. Her marriage soon weathered a storm but the issues were subsequently resolved. Saira Banu soon decided to end her career in 1976 but again appeared in 'Duniya' in 1984, before her last film 'Faisla' which released in 1988.
