Tim Gunn scared of Wintour encounter

10th September 2010

(Cover) - EN Fashion - Tim Gunn fears hell will freeze over if he bumps into Anna Wintour at New York Fashion Week.

The Project Runway mentor has written a book called Gunns Golden Rules where he has claimed he saw American Vogue editor Anna being carried down a stairway by bodyguards in 2006.

Tim says he has nothing against the fashion mogul, although he worries she may not have appreciated him revealing the incident and thinks a run-in with her at the event which is happening this week could be awkward.

"I wasn't slinging mud or criticising her character. Lord knows hell would freeze over if I came face to face with her here, but I probably wouldn't be able to see past her handlers," Tim told the New York Post.

A spokesman for Vogue denied Tims claims, insisting Anna was not afraid of walking down stairs.

"Tim Gunn has a very vivid imagination. There is no truth to any of this, a statement said.

Tims guide book to the fashion industry is far more complimentary about American television host and businesswoman Martha Stewart, who Tim admires in a professional and personal manner.

"Martha is a perfectionist. She has the highest standard of quality of anyone that I know. I have the hugest amount of respect for her, and actually, I also happen to have a real personal affection for her," he gushed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Tim says he hopes all the anecdotes he reveals in the book will teach readers a moral lesson.

"I was looking for examples of things that I've been part of or have witnessed where there is a particular lesson to be told," he explained when discussing the books contents.

He also spoke about his famous catchphrase Make It Work, saying it was the result of years of teaching.

I found students would often, whenever something was going awry with something they were designing and making they would abandon it and start from scratch. I thought to myself this isnt a good thing, they need to be able to diagnose whats wrong and offer a prescription for how to make it work, explained Tim. (C) Cover Media
